Training

Denton County ARES conducts monthly training nets on the 146.92 repeater. These are normally scheduled for the Thursday prior to the monthly DCARA club meeting at 19:30.

Denton County ARES members are also invited to participate in the various public service events that are conducted throughout the year, such as, Tour de Cure bike ride, Turkey Roll bike ride, and Mall Watch.

In addition to the training nets and service events, every ARES member should consider completing the following courses.

FEMA - IS-700.a National Incident Management System(NIMS), An Introduction

 Follow-on training

FEMA - IS-200.a ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

FEMA - IS-800.B National Response Framework, An Introduction

FEMA - IS-802 ESF #2, Communications

Advanced training

ARRL -Public Service and Emergency Communications Management for Radio Amateurs

These courses are especially important when the Denton County ARES is called upon by the various supported organizations in our area in the event of a drill, disaster simulation or actual disaster.

SKYWARN

Storm spotter classes are conducted by the National Weather Service and are recommended for certification as a Storm Spotter prior to participation in SKYWARN events.
